Indonesian Traditional Dance: Tari Merak

Hey all,

just wanted to share some pics from last weekend's dance performance for Chinese New Year.
It's the year of the tiger, peeps! I tried to look as fierce as a tigress (RAWRR) but transformed to a peahen instead. (YAWW) ~pretend that's how a peahen/peachick might sound like. duh!
My dance partner and I danced Tari Merak from West Java, Indonesia.

The details of the costume are equivalent to breathtaking.

Pose with Dancers from India.

Smile! but to which camera? with Malaysian Dancers.

Alright, have a goodnite y'all...
mind you, it's only Monday! four more days till the weekend. :)

Rihanna's and M.I.A.'s

Madness! Madness!
So, Rihanna just launched her new video called "Rude Boy" which created several arguments about the creativity behinds it!
Besides this issue, I like how Rihanna show dem dance moves. it's mad ill, yo! (i hope i use this sentence in the right context.)

Some people argue that it looks strikingly similar to M.I.A.'s "Boyz" (well, the title itself kinda parallel to each other).
I shall admit that I'm a core fan of M.I.A. and have nothing against Rihanna...
I think these both beautiful goddesses earn their loyalty and respect in fairly manner!

What yaaaa thinkkk?
Y'all be da judge...

Here are their videos that I acquired from Youtube (or let's just say "visit Vevo"):

Rihanna: Rude Boy

M.I.A.: Boyz

I mean, commoonnn... look at M.I.A's old video from her first album arular called Galang. She is known for her dope patterns done on greenscreen.

So... so... Did I hear "M.I.A.!!!! we're waiting in vain for your 2010 tour!!!" ????

Lady, who are you waiting for?

Title: Portrait of the Lady in Pink (Mrs. Leslie Cotton) by William Merritt Chase

I went to Rhode Island School of Design Museum last weekend and this oil on canvas painting really captured my eyes. look at the details of the dress... oh divine perfections!
What I like about this painting is the use of color and space. simple pink and simple background.
Surprisingly, another work by Mr. Chase can also be viewed in Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. titled "Lady in Black" (guess who's the subject? of course the respectable Mrs. Leslie Cotton)

The above painting reminds me of my computer's screensaver at work, "Pink Ribbon Barbie Doll". I've been wanting this Barbie for the longest but the price kills me most. Anyhooo, I'm still available for your contributions at any time. nyaahahaha. :]

Relay For Life event.

OH SNAP! It's 2.19 AM (Eastern Time) and why I'm still wide awake?
No No No... this can't be happening to me! I have work in the morn' and class at night! I have to rejuvinate myself to the maximum... gotta wake up at 7 am to be at work at 9 am! ughhhh, doubt that I can make it tomorrow.

but before I go to sleep, I'd like to pause and ask you a question...
Have you ever loved someone so much and lost them to cancer?
If the answer is yes, or maybe "no" but Cancer affected your life in a different way.. then consider this news:

The American Cancer Society proudly announced Relay For Life at CUNY Manhattan! The event will take place on April 23, 2010 at Baruch College Gymnasium (2 DAYS AFTER MY BIRTHDAY!) from 5 PM till 8 AM, the next day of course (Imagine the whole great ambience?). I did it with my friends last year and we had a blast like a lot, like Gazzilion laughters, like more than words can say!

At the moment, there are 198 participants with 37 teams, Dollars raised so far: $6,797,63 (mind you, we're still counting!)

To be honest with you, I lost my closest aunt to Lung cancer. It was a devastating moment for me because I was on my short vacation when I visited her in the motherland! I'd like to dedicate my whole experience for her because I know she is now safe in heaven. May God remain by your side and protect you always, Aunty B.

So, how can you participate if you're a busy busy person? no worries, you may make contribution for Relay For Life and help those in need. Simply just click this link to visit directly to my personal page: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY10EA?px=9580058&pg=personal&fr_id=20653&fl=en_US&et=CjqiLobPVNUWSzusFeoaGQ..&s_tafId=411732

From your contribution, the American Cancer Society can:
1. Help people stay well by helping them take steps to prevent cancer or detect it early, when it’s most treatable
2. Help people get well by being in their corner around the clock to guide them through every step of their cancer experience
3. Find cures by funding groundbreaking research that helps us understand cancer’s causes, determine how best to prevent it, and discover new ways to cure it
4. Fight back by working with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rally communities worldwide to join the fight

Every amount, no matter how small, makes a difference and provides hope.
Every dollar makes a difference! Your contribution is greatly appriciated.

Good night all! ...and sweet dreams!

Valentine's day

Hey Hey...
Can I say "I Love You" too much?

I think my mom, bro, dad, boy, family or friends get annoyed whenever I express my feelings to them. I don't know why, but I do love my surroundings my environments my comfort zone.. but, I think I should keep it calm and composed!
well, well.. don't know if I should post this subject now or sometimes in February?
what the goodness.. I'm here anyway.. should just blab it all!
So, as most of you know.. Valentine's Day is coming up.. plus the movie too! (Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher, and more..)
Hence, I'd like to share these love quotes, sentences, or cards that I found over the course of time.. Perhaps, it might gives you little idea in what-to-say-or-not-to-say to your significant other! :)
1. "Many are the starrs I see, but in my eye no starr like thee." ~English saying
2. "Grow old with me! The best is yet to be." ~Robert Browning
3. "I've fallen in love many times... always with you." ~Unknown
4. "Here's my love, take it. Here's my soul, use it. Here's my heart, don't break it. Here's my
hand, hold it and together we will make it forever. ~Unknown
5. "I have never loved, 'til I first met you." ~Unknown

6. "True love begins when nothing is looked for in return." ~Antoine De Saint-Exupery
7. "If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden."
~ Claudia Ghandi
8. "All days are nights to see till I see thee,And nights bright days when dreams do show thee to
me.~William Shakespeare, "Sonnet XLIII"
9. "I think about you constantly, whether it's with my mind or my heart." ~Albany Bach Reid

...and this is the winner:
** "I don't know why you are so special to me? why I like you? Why I care for you? Why I always think of you? Why I
loved you but one thing for sure I know that my life won't be like this without you! ~Anonymous

OH GOSH! I don't want you to think that I'm a hopeless romantic. I think it's just tres sympa to post something like this, since I don't have concerts or events to write about! geez, I need to do lil' research for my next article!

in the mean time... let me share this with you,
Je t'aimerai pour toujours...

L.O.V.E ?

L.O.V.E ?

My Oh myy.. what is this four alphabets and two syllables mean?
Personally, this word is just too strong to describe! Can you love somebody too much? Or How do you express your feeling if you do love someone too-too much?

And what the heck I brought up this subject on my blog? Oh yes! I remember now…
I went to Boston last weekend to visit a cousin and a friend who soon will sit his butt off inside a plane and leave the United States of America forgood! ARGHH I hate goodbyes! As Brian McKnight once said, “…And where is the good in goodbye? Tell me why… tell me why..”

Furthermore, during my visit.. I kept thinking to myself…”Wow.. Beantown is a really pretty place to be in love!” I mean,, I saw couples hugging each other fighting the cold weather while waiting for the traffic lights.. Also, I saw couples kissing underneath a clear blue sky… And ohh! I don’t know if I can mention this publicly, but some of my good-good friends are deeply in love… some of them are willing to cross the seven seas just to be with their loved ones (or perhaps, like last weekend case, willing to travel from NY to Boston), some of them are willing to sacrifice their religion to show the one they love that they do care, or maybe willing to contradict with parents because of disapproval.. and more and more and more reasoning.

As I thought about this lovey-dovey subject… I, too, have been the victim of sacrificing things in the name of love! How bout you? Can you somewhat relate to this? Have you ever made a sacrifice for love?
